Wayne UNC Health Care is dedicated to serving our community during and after any potential impact from Hurricane Dorian. We will remain open to serve patients, however, if you were planning to come to the hospital for a lab test, imaging service, or other non-emergency service please use caution and consider waiting until after the storm has moved through our area and the weather has cleared. If you have questions or need assistance in rescheduling a test or service, please call – 919-736-1110.

Hurricane Dorian Victims: UNC Provides Free Online Access to Primary Care Services through UNC Urgent Care 24/7 Telehealth Program 

Patients affected by Hurricane Dorian in North Carolina can access medical care around-the-clock.

UNC Health Care will offer free access to its online primary care service to people in North Carolina affected by Hurricane Dorian. Through this service, you can access board-certified primary care physicians online using your phone, tablet or computer. It offers simple, around-the-clock care from anywhere in North Carolina for non-emergency medical issues. Appropriate conditions include:

  • allergies
  • coughs
  • fever
  • headaches
  • nausea
  • insect bites
  • pink eye
  • sore throat
  • rash
  • vomiting and more.

Patients with true emergencies, including chest pain, should still go to a hospital emergency department.  

UNC Urgent Care 24/7 will be available at no charge through Friday, Sept. 13.

To register and create a UNC Urgent Care 24/7 account, visit or visit the Apple App and Google Play stores to download the app to a smartphone or tablet.

Patients in North Carolina can use the code “UNCDorian2019” to have visit fees waived. The service typically costs $49 or less per visit, depending on patients’ insurance.

UNC Physician Network's (UNCPN) - Wayne County Closings

All UNCPN Practices in Wayne County will be closed on Friday, September 6 and will resume normal operations on Monday, September 9. Wayne Action Teams for Community Health (WATCH)

WATCH will continue to see patients on Thursday, September 5, but will be closed on Friday, September 6. The WATCH Mobile Unit is in storage until the weather clears.
