Wayne UNC Health Care volunteers are an essential part of our healthcare system. It's their caring and generous spirits that make a difference every day.
Each year, over 140 compassionate volunteers in Goldsboro, North Carolina donate over 20,000 hours. They serve as liaisons between families and staff and lower anxiety levels. Volunteer schedules are very flexible and the rewards are plentiful. Our volunteers also help:
- Clerical support, such as collate and file documents
- Perform customer service duties, such as escorting guests to their destination
- Serve in the Sunshine Corner Gift Shop
Rewards of Volunteering
Enhancing the experience for our patients and their families can mean healthy rewards for you, as well. Research has shown a significant connection between volunteering and good health. Volunteers have greater longevity, higher functional ability, lower rates of depression and less incidence of heart disease.
Whether you’re a retiree with extra time or someone who wants to give back to the Wayne County community, you too can make a difference.
