UNC Health Wayne Donates AEDs to Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County
To celebrate Heart Health Month, UNC Health Wayne donated two life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Goldsboro and Mount Olive.
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are lifesaving devices that hold immense importance in any community setting. These portable electronic devices are designed to analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac events. The use of an AED dramatically increases the chances of survival, as every minute without defibrillation decreases the likelihood of survival by 7-10%. With cardiac events occurring unexpectedly and often without prior symptoms, having AEDs readily available in public places, workplaces, schools, and community centers becomes paramount. Their ease of use, coupled with their ability to provide clear, step-by-step instructions, empowers bystanders to initiate immediate and potentially life-saving interventions.
UNC Health Wayne is proud to provide these AED’s to the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County, empowering them with the tools needed to effectively in cardiac emergencies. This donation serves as an example of UNC Health Wayne’s commitment to fostering strong community partnerships and its dedication to the health and well-being of Wayne County.
