The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that collects and transparently reports hospital performance, has assigned a grade of A to Wayne UNC Health Care for our performance on dozens of patient safety metrics.

This grade is an important milestone for our team, which set a goal last year of earning and sustaining an A grade. “This achievement is a testament to our team’s continued focus on keeping our patients safe,” said Betty Wood, Director of Performance Improvement and Accreditation. “This grade places us in the top 32% of 2,600 hospitals nationwide, working hard to develop and maintain a positive culture around quality and safety.”

This is big news for our community, because it is just one more reason to trust and rely on our outstanding team. We are proud to be an A hospital in our community!

Some of the efforts we’ve made around safety and quality include:

  • improved communication and staff responsiveness
  • increased use of our electronic medical record for orders
  • enhanced safety and quality processes

Elevating the quality and safety of our care is only the first step. We will continue to enhance our services, expand access by recruiting providers and clinicians and continue innovating to deliver the best care available to you and your family.
